Diving into a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Playing as a Poop on a Quest to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have found numerous engaging indie games. However, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Called Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer includes a hero that is literally a piece of poop attempting to navigate to a toilet. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."

Player controls is simple: press a jump control. In 150 challenges, encounter boss fights and unlock a market to buy customizations for your dung hero.

Plan your actions precisely, as a wrong move means starting over. Jump on floating orbs to launch your character higher, navigate disappearing surfaces, and touch triggers to unlock secret routes. Earn UN-KOINS to purchase tougher levels where gameplay gets crazy.

Graphically, the game boasts eye-catching stages and catchy music score. Its minimalist art with moving geometric shapes could recall fans of old favorites like Earthbound.

Even though hard to name other games where you play as a piece of feces, gaming often included scatological themes. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can craft grenades from protagonist droppings. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize manure as fertilizer. Naturally, such content appears extensively in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already garnered notable recognition, such as winning at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. The demo is accessible currently on Steam, with the full game scheduled to arrive on PC in the fall.
